Adele Stamp founded the first Chapter of Alpha Lambda Delta on our campus in 1932 and served as Chapter Advisor until 1960. The UM Chapter became known as the Adele H. Stamp Chapter in 1960 at the time of Dr. Stamp’s retirement. Dr. Stamp served as the national treasurer for Alpha Lambda Delta.

Dr. Katherine Pedro Beardsley (1989-2013)
Kathy Beardsley served as Chapter Advisor from 1989 to 2013 when she retired as Associate Dean in the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences. Under Dr. Beardsley’s tenure as Chapter Advisor, the Adele H. Stamp Chapter of Alpha Lambda Delta at the Univeristy of Maryland campus joined with Phi Eta Sigma (formerly a freshman honor society for men) to form ALD & PES Honor Society.
