National ALD

Alpha Lambda Delta was founded as an honor society for freshman women on May 31, 1924 at the University of Illinois. It soon became a national organization as chapters were established at Purdue University in 1926 and Depaux University in 1927. The Adele H. Stamp Chapter at the University of Maryland was founded in 1931. Alpha Lambda Delta was admitted to the Association of College Honor Societies in 1939. Men were admitted to Alpha Lambda Delta in 1973. There are over 225 chapters in the United States.
