Lauren Stuart is a senior at UMD with a major in General Biology. She has a strong interest in Cell Biology & Physiology and hopes to pursue a future career in medicine. She works as a 4Maryland Ambassador to assist with Covid-19 testing, volunteers as a Medical Assistant at the Pregnancy Aid Center in College Park and tutors Biology and Chemistry with the Upward Bound Program at UMD. She has been an active member of ALD for 4 years; starting as VP of Academic Enrichment her sophomore year and building to a position as Co-president. In her free time she enjoys baking for her friends and families, painting canvases, working out and throwing a lacrosse ball with her roommate.
Sindhu is a senior Neurobiology and Physiology major and General Business minor on the premed track. In the past, she has served as the VP of Volunteerism and on the Volunteerism committee. She is involved with the Gemstone Honors Research program, Alternative Breaks program, and Maryland Mentor Corps. In her free time, she likes to sing, read, and travel.

My name is Sianne Bell and I am a senior Neurobiology and Physiology and Psychology double major and a Spanish minor. In previous years with ALD, I have been on both the academic enrichment and volunteer committees and now I am serving as the current VP of Membership. In my free time I like to make clothes or alter my current ones, listen to music, dance, and make choreography!
VP of Volunteerism
My name is Isabelle and I’m a junior Neurobiology and Physiology major with a minor in Spanish. I am a volunteer EMT at the Branchville Volunteer Fire Company and love participating in any event that gives back to the community, whether it be the Food Recovery Network, mentoring elementary school kids, or weeding with Campus Arboretum. In my free time, I love hiking, reading, and going on road trips with my friends!
VP of Academic Affairs
Cindy is a junior majoring in Supply Chain Management with a minor in Sustainability Studies. Some projects Cindy has worked on are FIRE: Sustainability Analytics, Social Innovation Fellows, and Consult Your Community. Outside of the classroom, Cindy is a Program Assistant at the Center for Global Business at Robert. H Smith School of Business. Cindy is also a member of UMCP Vietnamese Student Association, UMD Student Government Association, and Delta Phi Epsilon Sorority. Over the summer of 2020 and currently, Cindy is a consultant intern at Northramp LLC.
VP of Academic Enrichment
Supraja is a junior Public Health Science major and an alumna of Global Public Health Scholars. Supraja joined ALD during Fall of her sophomore year. She is enthusiastic to help undergraduate students navigate through their academic journey. She serves as a Guided Study Sessions (GSS) leader for general chemistry I and as an undergraduate teaching assistant (TA). During her free time, Supraja enjoys singing, watching shows, and spending time with friends and family.
VP of Communications
Jyotsna is a junior Neurobiology/Physiology major with a Professional Writing minor on the pre-med track. She is a volunteer with the Community Crisis Services, Inc. and enjoys advocating for mental health. Jyotsna is involved with the American Medical Student Association, Gemstone Honors Research Program, Nu Rho Psi Honor Society, Kidney Disease Screening and Awareness Program, and Combating Overdoses in Rural Areas. In her free time, she likes to bake, play the piano, and write.
VP of Event Planning
Vicky is a Junior majoring in General Biology on the Pre-Pharmacy track, with a minor in Business. She joined ALD in the Spring of 2019 and became a member of the Enrichment Committee before serving as VP of Event Planning this year. Vicky is also a member of SHAC and serves as the VP of the Pre-Pharmacy Society. Some of her hobbies include singing, playing instruments, and modeling.
VP of Finance
Jenny is a senior, Public Health Science major intending to pursue dentistry in the future. This is her second year serving at VP of Finance of ALD. Outside of ALD, Jenny is a TA, volunteer at Children’s National Hospital and a mentor for America Counts, and a member of DEM. In her free time, she loves hanging out with friends, spending time outdoors, reading and finding new music.
Hyekang (Kevin) Joo
Kevin is a senior Computer Science major with a minor in Technology Entrepreneurship. Kevin has served as a TA for a computing science course at UMD for a couple of semesters. On top of ALD, Kevin is serving as President of Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). Over the summer of 2019 and 2020, Kevin served as an Software Development Engineer intern at Amazon.
